OVERALL: A
We capped off a week at the Jersey Shore at Jen’s Links at Lighthouse Cove, just steps away from the Barnegat Lighthouse and with great views of Barnegat Bay. Jen’s course is clearly beautiful and was the only course on LBI that really gave us a magnificent view of the water.
While this course definitely isn’t the most challenging (High Tide winner had 40, with par of 43. Low Tide winner had 42, with par of 46), it did offer some interesting design and contours. We have yet to play a course constructed by Harris Miniature Golf that wasn’t an outstanding design, although some of them do feel a tad similar. Also, the way they design an ADA accessible option (front 9 on Low Tide, back 9 on High Tide) was really ingenious, and the most seamless integration of accessibility we’ve ever seen on a course.
Price wise, it was $13 for each adult, which is a bit on the high side, but the quality of the course was well worth it. We were also very pleased that it only cost $4 more to add on the second course, which we always do!
Another word to the wise: despite the two courses, Jen’s definitely has the ability to get busy very quickly. Even as we were leaving around 6pm, plenty of big parties were coming in. If you are a group that really wants to avoid the rush, we suggest making this a morning activity rather than an evening activity.
Another amazing fact came when we dove into the history of this property, and how it might have just been saved from the bulldozer. After opening with a great deal of praise in 2019 as the only course on the north end of LBI, tragedy struck just a few years later. In May of 2022, Jennifer Lackland, the founder of the course, died unexpectedly, and the complex was listed for sale by January 2023. Thankfully, Tim Flynn and Scott Mason bought the complex in May of 2023 and intend to not only keep the course as is (with Jen’s name front and center), but expand upon its great offerings.
