On our way down to Wildwood, we spent the morning at Crazy 8’s Mini Golf, which proved to be one of the most challenging courses we faced on our trip to the shore. Crazy 8s is just before your entrance to Wildwood, so if you are looking to get away from the island, or are staying on the mainland, this course is a real gem. The course is located right on the Route 47, which was a little noisy even when we got there at 11am, but the course is spread out enough that it wasn’t too bothersome.

We love a course that has a real par that was actually thought out (par was 54) and included three par 4s. The front 9 was a bit more challenging than the back 9, but all holes had long fairways where a hole in one required expert putting, if one was even possible (we managed to snag one on 17).  The winner had a 47 so still solidly under par, but the course proved difficult for all in our group, and took a good 90 minutes to complete (to be fair, we really took our time, and there was no one else on the course when we were there).

Price was $9 for each adult, which is totally reasonable for the course length. This is another Harris Miniature Golf course, so you will likely recognize some of their signatures fairways and doglegs, but this course had more water features and obstacles that really elevated play, in addition to the size of the course.

One thing we’ve found on some courses that we really dislike and was present quite a few times on this course are water features in the middle of holes that have no clear drainage or fill, but are painted blue to give the appearance of water (see photo at right). I’m sure there are plenty of logistical complications that standing water can not exist in these small pools, but it makes the course look dirty on days when there is minimal water and debris in the pools.

In summary, Crazy 8s is definitely a place for a good challenge, especially if you are looking for a place without the crowds of Wildwood or Cape May. Would definitely visit again!
