Schell’s Miniature Golf 4265 Fifth Street Hwy, Temple, PA 19560
Atmosphere: B+ Difficulty: A- Pricing: A+ Creativity: A-

It seemed like a good idea in hindsight to visit Schell’s Mini Golf early in the day, and while we had a relaxing round, it was a brutal 90 degree day with heavy humidity that really affected our round. We will say we hope to come back here on our next trip to PA just to give it another shot, but we were able to complete our round, despite being drenched in sweat and having consumed 4 water bottles.
Schell’s brands itself as the longest course in the state, as it is one 27-hole course. For scoring purposes, it’s broken down into 3 9-hole segments, each with a par of 24, for a total course par of 72. The course is actually quite interesting given that it uses several different types of barriers, from the conventional building brick to jagged natural racks to concrete. It”s just a minor inconvenience, but it seems they have patched the course with different types of carpet, so it’s hard to get a read on the whole course without having to switch up your game throughout, but it’s over all extremely well maintained (we’d rather this than rips and tears). Natural water runs throughout the course and is the only relief we had on this hot day. We admit we even soaked our hats in the running water to get some relief. We loved the jumps that this course had, with hole 26 being a giant leap. Given the amount of courses we play, it was refreshing to see some unique and interesting hole designs. We will knock down our atmosphere rating just a bit given the fact that there was little to no shade on the entire course, and we were out there as a group of three for a solid 90 minutes.
The price is right for this long course, with adults at only $7.75 and seniors at $7 (kids at $6.50), easily the best bang for your buck we’ve seen. We finished a bit over par with our winning come in at 74, but we will definitely be back here in cooler weather to see if we can go under par. We hope that Schell’s returns to their tournaments, cause we will definitely be there!
