Landis Links was one of the more surprising spots on our trip down to South Jersey. With very little online or social presence and not a lot of pictures, we didn’t really know what we were going to find. In fact, the course is a classic addition to a Rita’s Water Ice stand that is the main business source, but it is the southernmost NJ course without being at the Jersey Shore.
The course is not really challenging at all, the main obstacles being some hills and rocks. And it’s not necessarily that creative in general, although it did give us some real chances to practice our ace shots. However, the quality of the course was top notch. Everything from the quality of the turf to the cleanliness to the water running throughout to the surrounding greenery was perfect and pristine, despite being just a day or two past a major storm.
You can’t beat the pricing here at just $6/person. While this is a typical Harris course, you can tell the owners don’t view this as just another money opportunity, but really value the quality and upkeep. Par was a relatively simple 39 (one of the lowest we’ve seen that isn’t just the basic and ridiculous 36). We were able to get 3 aces on the course, including back-to-back on holes 8 and 9. In fact, our winner led after the front 9 with a 17. We finished up with a tie at 39.
Overall, we can’t highly recommend Landis Links enough. Those looking for a challenge will reframe their expectations by seeing who can get the most aces. Those looking for a cheap summer outing are sure to get it with one of the lowest prices in the area. And those looking for a good time, that is almost a guarantee.
