We were really impressed with the atmosphere of Big Swing, and with just a little bit more, this course could become a real A+ course. Everything from the expansive land to the water features to the challenging layout really made this course one of the most memorable in our South Jersey adventure.

Big Swing is actually comprised of two courses: the Meadows and the Falls. The Meadows has a par of 43 and is a bit flatter, though that doesn’t mean easier. With bouncy brick barriers, the course features several long putts that will challenge you to make the right read over hills and valleys. The Falls is a bit more challenging, with a few more par 4s and a par of 49 (technically 19 holes).

The course is a bit interesting in its use of different color carpet in various areas, some holes have a blue circle surrounding the cup, which usually signifies water, but that doesn’t really track throughout the course. We will say that despite the different colors, there were patched together expertly.

The thing that simply can’t be beat at Big Swing is the price. $7/person for 36 holes is completely unheard of. For a similar 36 hole course attached to a driving range in our neighborhood in North Jersey, it costs $12 just to play 18 holes. Easily the best bang for your buck in all of NJ, given the quality of the course.

We started out on the Meadow course, but may have underestimated just how tough it would be, given it was the “easier” course. With a par of 43, our winner came in at 45 with only one ace. On the 19 hole Falls course, with a par of 49, our winner came in at 48 with one ace, and played at even par almost the entire round.

It is clear that Big Swing is in the middle of replacing some of its older carpet with newer turf, and our only gripe there is it makes it hard to get a read for the speed of the green throughout your game. Once Big Swing completely replaces all it’s carpet, we think this could really be an exceptional A+ course, and given our free game, we will definitely be back!
