Paramus Mini Golf has been one of our local haunts for many years as it is one of the most reliable courses close to home. However, while these courses are sometimes good for consistent practice, that doesn’t mean they retain the original glow they might have once had.

Paramus Mini Golf was created in 2008 by Harris Mini Golf with a distinctive New Jersey theme. The course features several great obstacles including the George Washington Bridge, Fritz Behnke’s Farm House, the Jersey Boardwalk, and you’ll even see famous figures like Springsteen Yogi, and Danny Devito in retro cars. However, these obstacles have seriously deteriorated in recent years.

Don’t let the pictures on the website fool you; the course hasn’t looked that way in at least five years. Not only does the course have significant water damage (and just a random paint spot on one hole where someone clearly dropped a brush), but it seems to have lost a bit of magic. Where there was once a painting of the Jersey Shore by local high school students is now a blank white wall. Bruce Springsteen’s guitar is broken, and Devito is missing a chunk of his head. The course features a few major rips in its frankly mediocre carpet.

We are definitely for the course this once was and could be again. It’s probably good for business that this course has become a frequent date night/hang out spot for local teens in the area, but we have seen them take advantage of the beautiful landscaping features, and no one seems to have much interest in changing that behavior.

The course is relatively cheap as well, $10 for adults and $6 for seniors/kids, which makes it a more accessible activity as well. The par is an unimaginable and ridiculously arbitrary 39, and our best score here was a 43. The course isn’t necessarily challenging, but it’s some of the course defects that make putts more challenging. We hope that one day the city will be able to invest some money into repairing and preserving this once beautiful course.
