Matterhorn Mini Golf has to be hands-down one of, if not the best themed course we have ever played. It’s hard to find most anything wrong with this course, which is why we are giving it our highest rating!
Matterhorn Mini Golf is like a miniature Epcot for Switzerland. You are totally immersed in the culture from the minute you drive onto the property as the fence is made up of skis. The old antique shop that once stood on the property is renovated as the clubhouse in the style of a Swiss ski chalet, and things only go up from there. We first played Matterhorn back in 2022 and met owner Autumn Sutherland and were surprised to find out that, despite her love of Switzerland and dedicating a whole golf course to it, she had actually never been herself! With the amount of detail in this course, you certainly wouldn’t know it!
The course is immaculately landscaped, as you can see from our photos, and it always poses a challenge. The genius in this course lies also in the integration of the theme into the holes, and not just into the surrounding architecture. Everything from tennis (the Swiss great Roger Federer) to a Toblerone to the Matterhorn itself make appearances as obstacles on the course. There is a great blend of the difficult to…less difficult on the course. The longest hole on the course is the Par 3 18, which stretches about 71ft, but each hole is unique in design and theme.
When we played this year we were preparing for the Matterhorn Pro-Am in just a few weeks, so we were eager to see how we would stack up against the field. We were feeling pretty good through 9, staying one under going into the turn, but then had at least four missed putts on the back nine that would have sunk us in a tournament. We are eager to get those polished up! Our winner came in at 44, just one under par. Pricing is incredibly reasonable, as $11/adult and $6/child is actually cheaper than most of our other top rated courses, and you can also take advantage of a $20 all-day rate.
Overall, there is not much more we can say about Matterhorn other than it simply must be experienced by any mini golf lover. It is a rare themed course that doesn’t feel like a gimmick (ie most pirate-themed courses) or that has a bunch of easy holes, but instead will be both interesting and challenging for everyone involved.
