Wherever mini golf is, you can bet that ice cream is not far away. At Steve & Sue’s Par-Tee Freeze, the miniature golf course is attached right next store, dubbed Lightning Falls.
There is a rich history to Steve & Sue’s on their website, but it seems that most of the background is in the candy and sweets industry. The mini golf course is a nice add-on, but it didn’t stand out for us among the wealth of the Cape Cod course.
The course is pretty much your standard mini-golf course, with a small water hole, and various hills and slopes. The faux-cement bricks were especially difficult to bank off. Our biggest gripe here (and this happens at several other courses as well) is that no one abides by the 4 person/group maximum. When the course is fairly empty, we guess it doesn’t really matter, but we arrived when it was fairly crowded, and the group behind us was playing with 5 adults and 4 children, one of which was carried in a wagon. This slows the entire experience down considerably, and it really is the fault of the cashier who should know how many people are taking part at the beginning and at least try to break up the group.
The best part of the experience is the relatively cheap price compared to other courses on the Cape. It’s $10/adult, and $9/child, although the entire business is cash only (another thing becoming incredibly common among courses and businesses). Par was a bit unimaginative at 41; a weird par 4 and a few par 3s sprinkled in with no real rhyme or reason. Overall, it’s a nice middle of the road option on a budget, but not something we’d go out of our way to revisit.
