One of the real gems on our Cape Cod adventure was discovering Wild Animal Lagoon. This expansive course throws you right in the middle of a safari, your plane logged in a hillside next to a large waterfall guarded by a lion.

Some of the most prominent animals are a giraffe, elephants, gorillas, snakes, turtles, crocodiles, hippos, and zebras. The large property allows for several long fairways with unique hole construction, with solid cement as a barrier for the holes. Water flows throughout the course and keeps you cool on a hot day.

While the course does provide longer fairways and more challenging holes, some of them start to feel like straight putts, and may get a bit repetitive, which is what dipped our difficulty and creativity level a little bit. While there were tons of animals and facts about the creatures around the course, they weren’t as integrated into the course as we might have thought.

Pricing is $11/person, so right in the middle of the Cape Cod range, but the superior quality makes it well worth it. Par for the course is 50 and includes a coupe of par 4s, and although our winner netted a 47 (and got an ace), we felt 50 was very much on target.

Overall, this was definitely one of the more superior courses we played on the Cape, with a good mix of all the things we prize on a course.
