Goofy Golf claims to be Ocean City’s oldest and original 18-hole miniature golf course, and while we have found no proof to back that up, we can say that when you get old, you can sometimes start to show your age.

We’ve gone to the course the. past few summers, and it always seems like it is in a constant state of updating. The course seems to be based on a type of mini golf that was popular in the 1950s when the obstacles popular were made out of fiberglass and steel. On our trip this time around, probably the majority of the putting surface had been replaced, but there were more than a few longer greens that had not been replaced and showed pretty severe damage. Also, the metal cups also made for their usual hinderance. Most of the animals were painted, although some of them are just downright bizarre.

There are probably several copyright infringement laws being broken on this course, with the use of a Teenage Mutant Ninja turtle skateboarding and the minions accompanying a sad lion. Don’t get us wrong, some of the obstacles are interesting, but it just seems downright bizarre, which maybe would be the most fun for the little ones? The course can easily be compared to Tee Time down the street, but that course feels a bit more cohesive. Here, there just seems to be recycled parts from other courses. The most obscure is Hole 15, which is a tunnel that uses pool noodles (almost never in great condition) as obstacles. Is it an alien? Is it…..something else? We may never know. It seems like the course has improved on some consistency issues that other reviewers have pointed out, but part of the fun can be when something isn’t always a guaranteed ace!

The course also is only $5/person, which is again a similarity to Tee Time, but unlike Tee Time, it does accept cash or card. This is probably another reason we would recommend this more for the younger ones in your family, who will think a hole with a giant hippo eating a hoagie is just hilarious. Par for the course is 42 (although they don’t attribute the par on a per/hole basis), and the 18th hole is a free game. In our most recent visit, our winner clocked 5 aces plus a free game to go along with a 38.
