Colonial Woods Min Golf 545 Lonely Cottage Dr, Upper Black Eddy, PA 18972

We’ve played all sorts of courses in all sorts of locations, but Colonial Woods was our first mini golf course on a camp ground! With very little expectations, we were pleasantly surprised to find a great course tucked away in the hills of PA!
Colonial Woods is mainly a campground, but on an upscale level, offering a wide variety of activities to the people that stay there including mini-golf, tubing, and much more. We came on a scorcher of a day as a stop on our way home to New Jersey, and were pleased to find that we had the course to ourself the entire time. Based upon the reviews on other sites, it seems like this may be the case pretty often, which makes sense given it’s not necessarily along a major highway or being broadcast to a more public audience.
Colonial Woods is probably most similar to Landis Links in that it is simple, but extremely well-kept, which for us is a huge win. It’s hard to have fun on a simple course that is in shambles, but you can definitely have fun duking it out on a well maintained course of any caliber. Could some absolute professional come in and get between a 20-25 on this course? Absolutely. But part of the fun is seeing just how good you are on these simpler courses.
Our only real downside other than the difficulty was that there was no shade on the entirety of the course. It’s a small course, but on a 90+ day, the need for shade was real. Not only did the course look top notch, but it even looked like it had been swept of debris that day. Again, pretty impressive for a campground where your mini golf clearly isn’t the main attraction.
Pricing was $8 for adult and $6 for children. Maybe a dollar more than we thought it should be, but it wasn’t really going to make a difference. There was no par listed, but since we believe that almost no mini-golf par should be 36, we will estimate this at about a 40. In a tightly contested match with each player notching two aces, our winner came in at 36, and neither player had more than a 3 on any hole.
Overall, it’s probably not a course that we would feel the need to travel to, but if we were in the area and had time, we’d definitely recommend it. The pristine nature of this course is really what builds the charm for us and cleanses the pallet of the more challenging courses.
