We’ve been trying to get into Asbury Eighteen Mini Golf for quite a while, but with trying to avoid all day parking, it was incredibly difficult to find any space for a quick visit. We finally got an opportunity by going on a September weekend to see for ourselves the only mini-golf course in the Asbury Park area.

While mini golf on the boardwalk is not a new idea, each one has its own individual characteristics that separates the course from others in a positive or negative way. Unfortunately on this course, most of the things that separated it were not on the positive side of the list.

At this course, it is entirely open air with no shade, metal cups, and chunky rubber clubs. The entire course is flat and doesn’t really have any theme, elevation changes, or unique characteristics. The one thing that is semi-interesting is having sand as the actual sand traps on the course, but this actually just causes the entire course to be littered with sand. There are two water features that integrate into the hole design, but the water was murky and unappealing.

It also felt like the course wasn’t laid out properly. We got confused several times on where we were supposed to go and which hole was next, and we weren’t the only ones. With the generic score card and little design, this feels more like a city pop-up than a Jersey Shore mini-golf course. No par was listed, but our winner carded a 43 with one ace, and a couple others were right on the edge. $13/adult feels a bit high for what this course has to offer.
