Cove Mini Golf is located at the Norwalk Cove Marina, nestled just off the Calf Pasture Beach and the Long Island Sound. We’ve now visited this course two years straight on our way up through Connecticut to Cape Cod, and have always thought it was well worth the stop. We were lucky to get in just before a big rush of people on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
This is another Harris course but with an interesting use of the property. The holes actually stick to the edge of the property, leaving a large green space in the middle, which is a bit odd, but perhaps it could be used for other gatherings. The course has pretty average length holes that have some very sharp and hidden contours that make it more challenging than first meets the eye.
While certainly not in despair, it is starting to look a little worn and thin, but they will probably get a few more years out of the carpet. Typical Harris bricks are always difficult with their gaps, but we managed to keep them in control on this day.
Par on this course is 44, which we think is right on target, and not just because on this day our winners tied with a 44. We actually improved 4 strokes from our previous performance, but only managed a single hole-in-one. Pricing is $9/person at all times, which is pretty reasonable in this neck of the woods.
Overall, this is a good trusty course that is at the higher end of the “generic” Harris courses. It’s smart but hidden contours are sure to throw off some otherwise easy putts, but there aren’t many real choke holes on the course. We are a sucker for good scenary on the course, so that improves the overall score. But even with refurbishing, this isn’t going to be the most outstanding course you’ll ever play.
