Harbor Lights is literally like someone built a mini golf course in their backyard. As you entire the parking lot, which is literally someone replacing their front yard with gravel, you pay for your round at the front of the house, and then go around back to a lush garden landscape.
While certainly not as big of a park course as Colonial Putting Course or Pine Creek, or even nearby Holiday Hill, Harbor Lights is more of a “garden course.” The entirely native plants make for a wonderful landscape as you make your way through the grounds, which are definitely more spacious than first meets the eye.
Most of the holes here are pretty basic, and we’ve seen longer versions of them at other courses. The turf is mostly well kept, although is starting to tear in some parts. We would love to see them upgrade their turf; that would really elevate the level of play at the course. In general, this course has a lot of similarities to Harbor Glen, but we give the edge to Harbor Lights because of the better surrounding atmosphere.
The course is certainly not one of the more challenging ones on the Cape; most of these holes have possible ace opportunities, and we enjoyed the challenging of trying to get a really low score. We both managed to tie at 39 and we were surprised that we didn’t manage any aces on the course, although we had several just rim out. $10/person is a bit expensive for the type of course, but it’s still within a normal range, and we did enjoy the experience enough that is feels comfortable.
Again, this is probably not a course that is going to win any “Best of the Best” awards or host any major tournaments, but it’s a good spot to enjoy a solid round of golf without the deluge of tourists and children.
